Robert “Bob” Kubala, Age 84, of Shaler Twp., on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Bob was born October 9, 1939 and raised in Verona, PA, son of the late Joe and Mary Kubala. He graduated from Verona High School in 1957 and joined the United States Navy, where he became an Electricians Mate aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Valley Forge, CV-45.
After his three-year enlistment, he moved back home and soon married Norrie Perrin of Oakmont and started a family having three (Dan, Jeff and Gary) boys all a year apart. Bob worked shifts in the Maintenance department at Pittsburgh Hospital before getting a full time job as an Electrician at Gulf Research and Development in Harmarville. In 1975, he and Norrie had a girl (Kristin) and moved to a bigger home in Oakmont.
After a long illness, Norrie passed away in 1977 and Bob continued to work, do work around the house, be a single dad to 3 teens and a toddler and assist in running a Boy Scout Troop.
In 1978, he married Marie Nacey of West Deer Twp. and moved there where they lived until 2019. Marie had three young children (Eddie, Danny and Sharon) and the new family referred to themselves as “The Brady Bunch”.
After Gulf closed, Bob gained employment at Allegheny Ludlum Technical Center in Brackenridge until his retirement.
Bob loved his family deeply and had immense faith in Jesus Christ. He loved working for his church, spending time during the summers with Marie at their cottage in Lake Canadohta and most February’s in Madeira Beach, Florida. They enjoyed years of bowling together, watching their many grandchildren and gardening. Bob was an avid hunter and even bagged a “Powder Puff” deer (not quite albino) one year. He also enjoyed woodworking, boating and helping anybody to do home repairs that could use his help. He was always quick with a joke and generally had a big grin. Needless to say, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Kubala was the beloved husband of Marie Kubala and the late Norrice Kubala; father of Daniel Kubala (Chris), Jeffrey Kubala (Elizabeth "Betty"), Gary Kubala (Sandy) and Kristin Parise (David); stepfather of Sharon Brusco (late Lance) and the late Edward Nacey, Daniel Nacey; brother of the late Virginia Hipshire; also survived by eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Celebrate Mr. Kubala’s life with his family on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Shaler Twp. Funeral Service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Friday at 10 AM. The family respectfully suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
