Omel Irvin Stephen
April 9, 1922 - February 2, 2014
Omel Irvin Stephen, born on April 9, 1922, entered into his heavenly reward on February 2, 2014 with his son and daughter by his side. A loving husband, father, and World War II veteran, Omel was well-known for his wit and apt words of wisdom both among his family and church family at Pine Grove Church of Christ in Hebron, WV. After his service in the war, Omel worked at Weirton Steel until his retirement when he moved to Hebron, where he enjoyed tending his garden and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Beagle Stephen, and his second wife, Garnet Willison Stephen. He is survived by his son Gary Stephen (Eileen) of Abilene, TX, his daughter Janice Stephen Childers of Meadville, his step-son Robert Willison (Linda) of Millersport, OH, and step-daughter Penny Bricker (Ken) of Weirton, WV. He is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Friday, February 7, 2014, at 1 P. M. at the Weirton Heights Church of Christ in Weirton, WV. Interment will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton, WV, with military rites. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P. M. Thursday at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV and from 12 to 1 P. M. Friday at the church.
