Mary Ann (Donohue) Stegman

Mary Ann Elizabeth (Donohue) Stegman died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 after a long battle with dementia. Mary Ann was as proud of her Irish heritage as she was of her family. She was the only Donohue daughter, growing up with 2 older and 2 younger brothers. Mary Ann enjoyed multiple trips to Ireland with her brothers and family and still remained in contact with her Irish cousins. She was so happy to have been married to Edward for 53 years and be welcomed into Eds large Stegman Family. Mary Ann loved sharing Family Reunions, Ladies Days, and holidays with her Stegman in-laws, nieces and nephews. She loved a good family gathering - and WE all loved her green bean casserole, deviled eggs and potato salad. Mary Ann never missed sending a holiday greeting to family and friends; her perfect cursive writing was a treasure.

Mary Ann proudly served on the St. Patricks Day Parade Committee for years and was always in the Grandstand for the Parade, if the weather permitted. She loved wearing her green from head to toe and passed those beautiful traditions on to her children and grandchildren. Some of Mary Anns favorite photos were those from the Parade.

Mary Ann started her career at the Guild for the Blind for many years, and met some of her best friends in those years; friends with whom she has remained connected up until her final days. Until her retirement, Mary Ann worked as an Administrative Assistant for State Farm, working for her brother Kevin for many of those years. She prided herself in knowing each of her clients names and greeted them all so kindly.

Mary Ann was an avid sports fan, both Pittsburgh teams and those of her grandkids. Her favorite story to tell was her attendance at the 1960 World Series Game 7, Pirates vs. Yankees. While her brother Tom cheered, Mary Ann prayed the rosary until that amazing Bill Mazeroski Walkoff Homerun. That love of sports carried over to watching her grandkids on the court and on the field. Her attendance at a game always made it a bit more special.

Mary Ann was always optimistic, loved a good story or a fun song, shared by one of her beloved family members. She was a gentle soul and her kind voice and tender heart will forever be missed.

Mary Ann was the beloved wife of Edward J. Stegman; mother of Erika Clark (Jeffrey), Lara Stegman, Ryan Stegman (Susan); daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Doyle Donohue; sister of Thomas Donohue (Judy), Kevin Donohue (Pat) and the late Robert and John Donohue; grandmother of Madeline, Samantha, and Vincent Clark, Laura and Dillon Stegman.

Given the current environment and the limited capacity at the funeral home, only a private viewing will be held at this time. We look forward to celebrating Mary Anns life with all of you this upcoming Spring or Summer, with an Irish theme, of course! Arrangements were made by Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Our family respectfully suggests donations be made to The Clear Thoughts Foundation, www.clearthoughtsfoundation.org or 3000 Village Run Rd #103, Wexford, PA 15090.
