Joseph F. DeFazio

A long time resident of Sharpsburg, passed away on January 6, 2021 after 98 years of adventures and happiness. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose Marie (Marsico) DeFazio and son, Stephen DeFazio. He leaves behind his son, Vincent, his daughter, Cynthia DeFazio Smetana, son-in-law, Mark and granddaughters, Debra Smetana-Victor and Jessica Smetana. Joe was one of nine children born to Italian immigrants that settled in Sharpsburg. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. Following the war, Joe received a degree in teaching from Duquesne University. He taught World Cultures and coached the golf team at Deer Lakes High School. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with friends and family. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and teacher.

A Memorial Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in O'Hara Township. Arrangements made by Perman Funeral Home.
