Age 85, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday morning at Valley Hospice Care Center at Trinity West in the loving embrace of his wife and daughter.
He was born in Benwood, WV on February 12, 1934 to the late Ernest Sr. and Ella (Beck) OBerg. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ernest Jr. and Edward and his two sisters, Elizabeth and Eileen.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Howell) OBerg and their daughter Tracey Swisher (Terry) of Newark, OH; 3 grandchildren, Mariah Boeving (Will) of Poplar Bluff, MO; Victoria Swisher of Dallas, TX; and Bronson Swisher of Newark, OH. Also 2 great-grandchildren, Rhett and Emersyn Boeving, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
He graduated from Weir High School in 1952 and attended Capitol University and Western Pennsylvania Technical Institute. He proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Colliers Way Church of Christ and a former deacon. He was an avid Yankees fan and the 'cookie man' for Valley Hospice. He retired from Weirton/National Steel with 37 years of service in Production Planning. He also worked part-time at Sears for 16 years.
Friends will be received at the Colliers Way Church of Christ on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the church, followed by a burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
