Heather Lynn Long- Beloved mother and protector of human children and animals alike passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Shadyside Hospital, where she was born 42 years prior. After graduating from Franklin High School in Murrysville, PA, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh.

Heather was a passionate animal care provider and business owner, working alongside countless animal rights activists and shelters as a savior and advocate for the discarded and most vulnerable.

She is survived by her daughter Delilah and son Kai Finelli of Oakland; her mother Diana Sutek Long of Murrysville, PA; her sister Pamela Long Birr of Shorewood, WI; and her adored and loyal companions: Ulu (canine), Fievel (feline), Doc (pig), and rodents Potato and Peaches.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth and Christopher Long; her father Donald Long; and her beloved canine companions Niqua, Buddy, Diamond, Ne Ne, Candy, Kahi, as well as her cats Franken and Black.

Celebrate Heather's life with her family at a Memorial Gathering on Friday, October 18th from 2-6 PM at Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Rt. 8 Shaler Twp. where a Memorial Service will take place at 6 PM. The family respectfully suggests donations in her honor to the Homeless Cat Management Team or Pigsburgh Squealers Rescue.
