Age 85, of O’Hara Township, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, Joe was the beloved husband of Suzann "Sue" Spell Mercurio; father of Nina Mercurio, Keith Mercurio; son of the late Saverio and Giuseppina Cardmone Mercurio; brother of Pasquale Mercurio (late Laura), Connie Banichar (Albert), Ursula Svach (Jan Joseph), Mario Mercurio (Josephine “Jan”); son-in-law of the late Joseph and Irene Spell; also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Joe, also known as Peppino, came to the United States from Soveria Mannelli, Calabria, Italy in 1960. He was a landscaper for Nick Cua Landscaping from Squirrell Hill and John Morricco Landscaping from Morningside. He was a perfectionist and took pride in his work. He met the love of his life Sue the day after her 17th birthday at Winkie's in 1967, and they were married on June 21, 1969. He enjoyed Steeler’s games and spending time with his family (he had a commanding presence at home). 

Celebrate Joe’s life with his family on Wednesday from 1-7 PM at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Rt 8., Shaler Twp. Prayers at Perman Funeral Home on Thursday after 10 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Parish at St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw on Thursday at 11 AM.
