Of Stanton Heights, on Thursday, March 21, 2013, Mr. Smerdel was the beloved husband of Geraldine A. Rebarnik Smerdel; loving father of Rebecca (Joseph) Doghri of Gilbertsville PA, Mary Smerdel of Indiana PA, Michelle (William) Arnold of Frisco TX, Dennis Jon Royer of Irwin and the late Jim Royer; brother of the late John, Joseph, and Anthony Smerdel; also 4 grandchildren; golf buddy of Carl P. Mr. Smerdel was a veteran of Merchant Marines. Mr. Smerdel was famous for Smerdel's Klobase. He was owner of Smerdel's Market in Stanton Heights, Smerdel's Shop N' Save in Shaler, and Smerdel's Meat Market in Etna. He was also an avid golfer and very proud of having 2 holes-in-one at Echo Country Club in Florida and Cloverleaf Golf Club in Delmont.
Celebrate Mr. Smerdel's life with his family on Sunday from 1-8 PM at the Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 923 Saxonburg Blvd at Rt. 8, Shaler Twp. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Augustine Church, Our Lady of Angels Parish, on Monday at 10 AM.
