Age 80, of Shaler Township, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, Eugene was the beloved husband of Lois Bursich Edmondston; father of Jill Ann Varley (John David), Victor Edmondston (Jeanette), Eric Edmondston; brother of the late Kenneth Edmondston (Pennie), Gary Edmondston (Mae), Francine Wytiaz (Bill); grandfather of Chelsea (Eric), Laura, Daniel (Sara), Aric (Ellen), Madeline, Charlie.
Those who knew him through his journey of a long and well-lived life now only hold fond memories of him that never fail to bring bright smiles to their eyes and mouths. Those who currently speak of him use vocabulary limited to beautifully poetic words—though they might be difficult to find at present—that fill the universe with light. Those who have yet to hear the infinitely many magnificent stories of him will only wish for his positive energy to exist once more.
Eugene Victor “Vic” Edmondston peacefully departed this Earthbound life on Saturday, September 7th, 2024, in the silent presence of his lovingly devoted wife, Lois Ann Edmondston. Not many people marry their high school sweethearts, and even fewer remain with their partners for the seemingly everlasting length of time these two shared. Through thick and thin and for upwards of 60 years, they stood by each other’s side—rooted firmly in their love so that not even the most violent earthquake could shake their fidelity.
Vic’s devotion also unsurprisingly extended to his children and grandchildren so as to create most memorable moments and bring forth intrinsic bonds that will last 100 lifetimes. He worked as a crane operator for the majority of his employment; Vic was always finding ways to support his family, so this occupation completely and wholeheartedly went towards the wellbeing of his loved ones. This, as well as his undivided attention, warm affection, and original humor continuously transformed Vic into the most loving father—and eventual grandfather—that anyone could ever dream of. Vic’s dedication to his passions and family earned him a restful retirement, so even though his relaxation quickly declined into undeserved suffering and isolation, it goes without saying that Vic now resides in a place suited much better for his eternal rest.
Vic’s wife, Lois, is worth mentioning one last time. His happiness, devotion, love, passion, and smile all started with the amazing woman she continues to be. Without her, the task of finding a love that will last longer than a lifetime would be laborious and in vain. Vic will be missed by everyone touched by his loving persona, but most of all by his ever faithful Lois. Until the impossible end of time, may he rest in peace.
