March 21, 1936 — June 11, 2017

Edward Michael Boyda

Of Penn Hills, formerly of Greenfield, on Sunday, June 11, 2017, born on March 21, 1936, Ed was the beloved father of Nikole Boyda McGuinness (John) of Portland OR; son of the late Anna and Michael Boyda; brother of Betty Ann Manion of Pittsburgh, Margie Baigh of Chicago IL, and the late Becky Gumm, Holly Schickler, Theodore Boyda; closest friend to Robert and Marilyn Bartko; also survived by nieces and nephews.
Ed was born, raised and lived his life proudly in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a printer by trade, and spent most of his working life within the industry. A beloved father, he raised his daughter, Nikole, solely, and referred to his time as, "The best days of his life". He loved to read, especially legal thrillers, and enjoyed sharing his novels with others. He was a sports enthusiast and played baseball, softball, and golf in his younger years, and he savored his time spent in the woods with his family and friends while hunting. In his later years, he liked walking his "three miles" at Boyce Park in Penn Hills where he loved, and always shared stories of the friends that he met while there. He was also an avid and loyal fan to his home teams, and always looked forward to watching Steelers and Pirates, rarely missing a game.
A Memorial Service will be held at Penn Hebron Garden Club, Penn Hills on Tuesday at 11 AM. All who knew Ed are welcome to come. Arrangements made by Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Rte. 8, Shaler Twp. The family respectfully requests donations be made to UPMC CancerCenter, Patient Care Fund, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15232 or Meals on Wheels at the Penn Hills Senior Center, 147 Jefferson Rd, Pittsburgh PA 15235.
