Age 91, of Sarver, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Don was born on May 13, 1933 to the late Harry L. and Ella L. (Prager) Hoburg.
A mechanic by trade, Don also spent many years working on his family’s farm in Dorseyville, where he raised his award-winning goats. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Don enjoyed creating beautiful cross stitch art work that was crafted so meticulously, it was often difficult to tell the front of the piece from the back. Later in life, Don enjoyed word searches, latch hook projects, reading, and watching the birds at his daughter’s house. Special visits from his little buddies, Braxton and Brylee, and his four-legged friends were the highlight of Don’s day.
Don is survived by his daughter, Debbie Matus (K.C.); his grandchildren, Jennifer Fritz (Matthew) and Kristofer Matus (Mandy); and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother, Warren D. Hoburg; his wife Dolores J. (Eurich) Hoburg, who passed away in 1975; and his second wife, Ruth (Malanowski) Hoburg who passed away in 2008.
Don’s family would like to thank Monarch Hospice for their wonderful care of Don. His family would also like to thank his dear friends Barb, Mackenzie, and Taylor for their time, care, and love.
Per Don’s wishes, a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family respectfully suggests donations be made to Monarch Hospice, 2837 Leechburg Rd, New Kensington, PA 15068.
