David T. Herr

Age 88, of Shaler Twp., on Sunday, July 30, 2023, on his 63^rd wedding anniversary, Mr. Herr was the beloved husband of Lorraine Gallagher Herr; father of Karen Young, Linda Weightman (Paul), Daniel Herr (Kimberly); son of the late Maurice and Mary Herr; brother of the late Elizabeth Marks (Norman), Dorothy Baer (James), Rosemary Spokart (Frank); Pappy of David Christopher Herr, Andrew Thomas Weightman.

Dave proudly served in the United States Army from 1954-1957. He served as a Sargent for the University of Pittsburgh Police until he became an officer for the City of Pittsburgh police force in 1965, where he retired from in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Post 710, and Fraternal Order of Police- Ft. Pitt Lodge #001. Family vacations and stories were his favorite past-times. His most memorable vacation was in 2004 when he and Lorraine went to Hawaii.

Celebrate Mr. Herr’s life with his family on Wednesday from 2-8 PM at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Shaler Twp. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Thursday at 10:30 AM.The family respectfully suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Dave’s name.
