Of Shaler Twp., met the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, Mr. Friedman, age 80, was a beloved husband, father, brother-in-law and uncle.

Chester N. Friedman, 80 of Shaler Township, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. He was born September 27, 1932, in Pittsburgh. He was the only child of the late Chester J. and Marie M. (Snyder) Friedman. He was the father of Kathleen A. Eckert (the late Jeffrey) and Patricia L. (Gary) Cuffman; Grandfather of Nicole (Darryll) Wolnik, Kelly Cuffman and Jessie Cuffman; Brother-in-law of Ileen D. Kelly and Harry R. (MaryAnn) Kelly; Uncle of Kevin M. (Buffy) Kelly, Steven P. (Deborah)
Kelly and Carrie L. (Richard) Penn; also survived by grandnieces, grandnephews and many cousins.
Chester was a graduate of Aspinwall High School and a Korean War Army Veteran. He served as a Patrolman, Constable and Lieutenant on the Aspinwall Police Department. He touched the lives of many of the Aspinwall residents and was a positive role model to the youth of Aspinwall and many surrounding townships.
Through his extensive efforts in the 1970's, Chet rallied the youth of the surrounding neighborhoods and formed the Sharpsburg Cadets Junior Drum and Bugle Corps. It was his passion and dedication that gave these youth, male and female ages 12-21, a variety of opportunities. Opportunities that lent to learn discipline, competitive showmanship, pride, leadership, musical abilities and friendships that have lasted for decades.
Chester retired from the Aspinwall Police Department after 34 years of service. With his love of the law and passion for people, he continued working in various roles after retirement. He served as a guard for the Federal Court house in Pittsburgh and was as a crossing guard for the Shaler School district.
So here's to one great man with a multitude of aliases: Chester, Chet, Red, Waldo, Chrome Dome, Tweety Bird, Mr. Duck, Officer Friedman, and Dad. May you make your peace with the Lord, join your parents, have that one last cigar and rest comfortably now and forever more.
