Bradley 'Max" Wilcox

Bradley "Max" Wilcox died peacefully surrounded by family in his home on May 29, 2015 in New Cumberland, WV at the age of 82. Max is survived by his wife, Carol Lynette Wilcox; children, Brian and Melinda Wilcox, Cheryl Bennett, and Wendy and Joseph Harrick; grandchildren, Ashley, Bradley and Carley Wilcox, Sydney and Gabrielle Bennett and Joey, Jacob, Joshua and James Harrick.
Max was born on February 27, 1933 to Sarah Vonda Wilcox and Don Wilcox. He was predeceased by both of his parents, his beloved step mother Mildred Ruth Wilcox and his younger brother Carlyle Baxter Wilcox. Max served in the United States Army for six years and was honorably discharged in 1961. In 1955 he graduated from David Lipscomb College with a BS in biology. Max attended West Virginia University graduating with his masters in Biology in 1963. He married his true love Carol Lynette Wilcox on July 14, 1958. The couple welcomed three children into their hearts and taught the children values and self-reliance. There was never a dull moment in the Wilcox household. His children and grandchildren remember him as a strong, kind, funny, loving man who encouraged them to pursue their goals and strive to be their best.
Max was accomplished at so very many things and often volunteered his talents to help others. He was a dedicated individual who loved young people and was passionate about education and teaching. His dedication was well known at Weir High School where he taught biology for 33 years before retiring. He was an active member of the Weirton Heights Church of Christ.
Celebrate Max’s life with his family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Weirton Heights Church of Christ, 3169 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062, where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM. The family respectfully suggests donations be made to Weirton Heights Church of Christ. The family would, also, like to thank Valley Hospice, Dr. Makar, and all our friends for kindness, care and dedication during these trying times.
