Albert Francis Munio

Albert Francis Munio passed away suddenly at his beloved Middleton, ID home early in the morning of Friday, August 11, 2017. AI finished his morning cup of green tea, and was dressed and ready to meet his family for breakfast, as they all prepared for the Saturday wedding of his grandson Jacob Joseph Schnupp. The wedding invitation was lying on AI's kitchen countertop, with his camera resting on top of it.
AI was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 13, 1938, to Aloysius Joseph (Curly) and Mildred Louise (Mil) Munio. His sister Patricia Ann (Pat) was born the following year and this little group moved to family property in 'the country' of Glenshaw, PA, where Pat still resides today.
Mil and Curly worked incredibly hard to give their children a wonderful life. These fine parents never had a lot of money, but their home had warmth and stability and overflowed with love, a genuine and rare wealth. In his spare time, Curly grew a garden envied by everyone who fancied they had a green thumb: in his retirement years, AI also grew - and took enormous pride - in his garden. His grandsons, Will and Jake, along with their father, Bill, spent many hours planting and harvesting everything from tomatoes to watermelon.
Mil was a gourmet cook - everything was from scratch and there was never a recipe. AI followed in his mother's footsteps and cooked many fine (and some NOT so fine) meals for his family. A couple of years ago, AI's bumper crop of tomatoes and cucumbers prompted him to try his hand at canning: he and Jake spent the summer making Virginia Chunk pickles and spicy ketchup. AI joked that his cupboards were stocked for the rest of his life.
AI attended St. Mary's grade school and North Catholic High School. In January of 1961, his employer, Grafe-Weeks sent him to Idaho for a short-term project as supervisory engineer for top secret missile silo projects in Idaho, Oregon and Nevada. AI met and married Pauline Vincen in October of 1961- they made their home in Boise, ID and had four children together: Jackie, Albert, Tammy and Tonya.
AI loved the wilderness of Idaho and was constantly selling its merits to his sister and his parents. He and his family made many memories in the great outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, boating, waterskiing and snowskiing. Word to the wise: bats don't really make nests in your hair.
In 1997 AI married his beloved Louise Fannon. AI and Louise lived in Eagle for the first half of their marriage, then built their dream home on five acres in Middleton. They enjoyed travel and their ritual Costco trips, having lunch together and making an adventure of it all. AI welcomed with open arms Louise's children Nancy, Richard, Tammy and Jon.
AI became 'Old MacDonald,' raising chickens, ducks sheep, goats - and Tina the llama. He adopted a dog, a Great Pyrenees, and AI and Butch became best buddies. They could often be seen slowly walking the road together in front of the house, getting in their exercise.
AI is survived by his wife, Louise. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Sunseri (Mike), his children Jackie Schnupp (Bill), Albert Munio, Tammy Jereczek (John), Tonya Boydston (Jason), and his stepchildren Nancy Henderson (Randy), Richard Fannon, Tammy German (Tim) and Jon Fannon.
AI leaves seven grandchildren, Will, Patricia, Jacob, Kalla, Halle, Ella, John and one great-grandchild, Will. He also leaves four step-grandchildren, Gavin, Zoie, Collin and Amelia.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw on Saturday, September 30 at 10 AM. Arrangements made by Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Rte. 8, Shaler Twp.
